Shock stat of the day

Five of Japan's top 10 best-selling books started out as books written for and read on mobile phones. (via Communities Dominate Brands)
No one will ever consume lengthy content or spend long staring at those tiny screens... will they?

  1. ...indeed...but thats the thing I have found hypocritical with the thinking that 'it will never happen' - many of us spend a significant amount of time staring at the tiny screen anyway its just the reason we do it is either SMS, emails, whatever.

The paradigm shift required seems not to be whether people spend time staring at a small screen but rather what it is that people are (or will be) staring at.

I remember people saying that there was absolutely no benefit whatsoever in having a phone that isn't attached to a cord in your house or office. After all, phone calls can wait until you are near one - and if not there are always public phone boxes (better still, letters should be sent as one can take more time to be expressive).

Honestly Dave, next you will be hinting that books on phones will catch on as much as phones without cords...yeah right.

The rate of change is so rapid it's difficult for one person to keep up to speed. Let's pool our thoughts, share our reactions and, who knows, even reach some shared conclusions worth arriving at?
